What is crowdsourcing?<\/h3>\n

Crowdsourcing involves engaging a community of users to carry out tasks that cannot be completed by a computer. \u00a0The Letters of 1916 project is\u00a0crowdsourcing a digital collection of letters written around the time of the Easter Rising by asking the public to contribute copies of letters to the database or transcribe previously uploaded letters. The success of any crowdsourced project depends on its community of volunteers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
