How to register

Before you may add letters to the database or transcribe letters uploaded by others, you need to register as a Letters 1916-1923 volunteer. The registration/log-in field pops up on your screen if you click on the “Login/Register” button in the top right corner of our site.

Once your registration is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. You may now log in to your personal user account. Your user account permits you to update your user information and your password. In accordance with EU law, we also provide a “forget me” option where you can delete your account. Your name and email address will be deleted from our system, and your contributions to our project will be anonymised.

The dropdown menu in your personal account will take you to four different sections:

  • Profile (displaying your personal data and site activity)
  • Add new letter (upload form)
  • My letter (access to all letters you have added)
  • My transcriptions (all letters you have transcribed or edited)

In order to transcribe a new letter, please go the transcription desk and select an item you would like to work on.

Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties signing up. Our team will be happy to help.
