The Letters of 1916 welcomes this opportunity to participate in Genealogy Day, to connect with those interested in family history. This is an opportunity to bring personal stories to life again by searching for letters and related photographs hidden away in boxes, cupboards and attics.
Add your letter
Members of the public invited to include their family history in this important archive either by uploading images of letters from one’s home computer or by bringing letters to Genealogy Day, where the Letters of 1916 team will be on hand to photograph them for inclusion in the virtual collection. The team will also be happy to answer questions regarding letters from this period.
People can also get involved in uncovering hidden stories by transcribing some of the 700 letters already contributed to the archive by individuals and public institutions, including, the Military Archives of Ireland, the National Archives of Ireland, the National Library of Ireland, Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin as well as the Medical Missionaries of Mary.
We are looking forward to meeting with You!
